I'm so Happi to share this article with all of you! Happi.com recently interviewed me about the success of one my brands Motives Cosmetics. Below is the introduction to the article, to view the entire blog post click here
Loren Ridinger spent countless hours in the lab developing Motives, her color cosmetics line. While the range has done very well since it rolled out 17 months ago, it wasn’t until her teenage daughter finally ditched all of her other cosmetics that Ridinger breathed a sigh of relief.
“Kids are your biggest critics. They know how to be honest with you,” Ridinger told Happi in a phone interview from her office in New York City.I feel so thankful and blessed - the press from Eva Longoria wearing Loren Jewels at the 2010 Emmy awards has been amazing. I wanted to share some of the great posts with you and thank all the editors and Eva Longoria for making this happen.

Whether you’re an entrepreneur or a working mother, your time becomes one of your most valuable commodities. It can even be considered a form of currency—for example, if you’re bartering with other businesses. So if this resource is so precious, we must not waste it. And I don’t mean you shouldn’t be wasting helping others or on a creative venture. Being wasteful with your time is spending hours, days worrying or being negative.
How many times do we find ourselves overwhelmed with life and instead of focusing on one thing at a time, we throw our hands in the air and say, “forget it?” Think of all that energy you spent listening to your mind chatter to the point that it disabled you to move forward. What a waste of time! And let’s not forget the time we spent complaining to our significant other about what an awful day we had. If we only have two hours to spend with our significant other before the day is over, why spend it talking about something that already made you upset during the day?

I just finished a book by Kelly Cutrone, of The Hills and The City fame and founder of fashion publicity house People’s Revolution, titled If you have to cry, go outside and other things your mother never told you. I really enjoyed it. Cutrone’s story and her candidness are both inspiring and refreshing. It’s a really great book for anyone unhappy or on-the-fence with their career. I was actually recommended the book by someone who read it and then left her job to pursue her passion. So if you need a little career inspiration, pick up Cutrone’s book.

Ask any intelligent person what makes someone attractive and they’ll tell you, confidence. Whether it is in business or in romantic relationships, being completely sure of yourself will undeniably make you more desirable. People are looking for employees/partners who are leaders capable of making clear decisions and then sticking to those decisions. Have you ever had a boss that would say one thing one day and then say the complete opposite the next day? If so, you probably didn’t respect him or her and only grew resentful.
Everyone is looking for security. People want to purchase items from others that make them feel safe. If you’re selling a product and not really sure about its power, you’re going to make people feel uneasy. But if you walk into that room believing—really believing— you’re selling the best product on earth, your audience will follow suit. Be the authority you aspire to be. Give it a whirl, and be amazed by the results.
