Toxic Relationships 101: When to Let It Go

toxic relationships

We've all found ourselves in a relationship or few where the other person's behavior or energy around us proves too toxic. To protect our energy and happiness, this is when it's time to pull up our big girl pants, kiss them goodbye and let it go.

Toxic Relationships 101: When to Let It Go

toxic relationships

There will be ups and downs in every long-term relationship. What we're talking about is those toxic relationships which bring too much drama, consistent lousy energy, and relentless negative vibes. Trust me. In these scenarios, it's honestly best for us to let it go.

Poisonous people often choose kind and loyal people with beautiful big hearts to be around because they've learned these are the people more likely to forgive their behavior. The sad truth is, toxic people will always take advantage of such good-hearted spirits for as long as they are able. No good comes of these relationships. They will cause stress, often provoke you to question yourself and deplete you of energy.

The strongest of the strong can find themselves in such relationships. The longer you allow such connections to continue, the more you are taking away from your energy and often self-confidence.

In these scenarios, it's best for us to take back control and let it go. No good will come of retaining associations with seasoned manipulators, liars, or those who consistently yet subtly put you down and talk negatively behind your back. These people will push you to the edge, before pulling you back into their fold with master manipulation techniques - and so the vicious toxic cycle continues.

People who truly love you will tell you a few home truths if and when you need to hear them, but will always have your best interests at heart, because they love you. If a person's actions scream at you that they don't honestly appreciate or respect you, it's time to let it go.

Saying goodbye to toxic friendships may be filled with hurt and sadness, to begin with, but the most important thing to remember is this: nothing and no one should impact negatively on your health, energy or happiness by sabotaging your good nature. Anything that does? Let it go!
