We’re often so busy slaying daily work life and juggling our personal lives and keeping our homes in order that we sometimes forget to pay attention to the most important person in our lives; ourselves. Blocked energy chakras need a spring clean just as frequently as your home.

Monday Motivation: 7 Ways to Instantly Clear Blocked Energy Chakras

Chakras are not a fancy yoga fad; chakras are an ancient method for understanding your body’s energy. Our energy flow starts at the base of our spine and runs up to the crown of our head. Any blocked energy chakras can wreak reak havoc on our mental, emotional and physical health.

1st Chakra (Root)

Blocked energy in the Root chakra leaves you struggling to concentrate or get grounded because you’re stuck in your head.


Submerge yourself in nature, i.e. if you live near the ocean, take a long walk on the sand barefoot. Incorporate more red into your daily life in the form of red clothing or accessories, and healthy foods like beets, strawberries, and tomatoes.

2nd Chakra (Sacral)

Energy blockages in the Sacral chakra can lead to feelings of emotional overwhelm and/or a lack of sexual desire or creativity.


Spend time in water; a lake or the ocean ideally. Switch up the orange in your week externally with clothing and accessories, and internally via fresh foods like oranges, mangoes, and melon.

3rd Chakra (Solar Plexus)

Temper tantrums, lack of self-confidence and poor decision-making skills are all common side effects of a blocked Solar Plexus chakra.


Spend time around fire and light; either by meditating over a candle, soaking up the sunshine or huddled around a fireplace. Add yellow to this week’s outfits, and into your diet through foods like sweetcorn, pepper, ginger, tumeric, and lemons.

4th Chakra (Heart)

An energy block here can fill your heart with anger, resentment, jealousy or self-hatred when it should be surging with love and forgiveness.


Spend time in fresh air and focus on green fashion this week in addition to green foods such as avocado, pepper, spinach, salad, and broccoli.

5th Chakra (Throat)

If you’ve been feeling low, judged or fearing acceptance by others, there could be a blockage in your throat chakra.


Spend time outdoors in nature. Style this week’s outfits with shades of blue, and snack on foods like blueberries, currants, and dragon fruit.

6th Chakra (Third Eye)

Energy blockages in the third eye can result in a lack of intuition, judgment, imagination and a general feeling of being out of tune with yourself and the universe.


Soak up some natural sunlight this week, rock your best indigo or purple outfits, and stock up on dark grapes, blackberries and purple kale.

7th Chakra (Crown)

Common side effects of a blocked crown chakra include feelings of disconnection with yourself and those around you, isolation, emotional distress, and an inability to set or work towards your goals.
