How to Pamper Your Feet for Winter

winter pedicure tips

During spring and summer, our feet are pampered with pedicures and special treatment since we always have them on display. Come winter, we tend to forget our footsies since we cover them up in socks before slipping them into boots or a variety of other closed shoes. Your poor feet— start spoiling them now so you don’t stress out your pedicurist come spring.

So what can you do now? Follow these five important steps that’ll get your feet beautiful in no time.

Soak

Whether you’re doing a lot of walking or you need a little relaxation, soaking your feet is what you need. Not only will this reduce swelling, but also it will help soften all the rough skin that has developed over time. Start with one cup of Epsom salt in warm water.

You can add a few drops of your favorite essential oils for added benefits. Lavender helps with relaxation and is lovely before bed.

Exfoliate

Now that the tough skin has softened, let’s get rid of it! The hottest new product is Dr. Scholl’s Dream Walk Express Pedi Foot Smoother. Since it’s battery powered, your hand won’t get tired and you’ll be done a lot quicker.

For those weeks in between using the foot file, you can use a foot exfoliator like the Bliss Foot Patrol Aha Exfoliating and Softening Cream.

Don’t Forget Your Nails

Your nails will grow wild if you don’t trim and file them regularly. The last thing you need is for your nails to catch on your socks or to hurt in your closed shoes. I love our Motives Professional Nail Care KIT for those days you want a quick cleanup or for when you want to spend a little more time pampering yourself.

Moisturize

The best way to wrap up your foot pampering session is by moisturizing. This is an important step you need to do every night so you maintain softness. Apply Essie Spa Pedicure’s Feet in the Clouds Leg and Foot Crème then put on a pair of soft socks so your feet drink up the ingredients.

Another great option is Sol de Janeiro’s Samba Foot Fetish Cream that has cupuacu butter, acai and coconut oil. After a long day, massage the cream on and treat yourself to a mini massage and watch all the stress melt away.

Polish

Even though your toes aren’t exposed, putting a bit of color might be a nice treat during the winter. There are so many fun shades out that you’ll want to keep changing it up.

Lancome’s Vernis in Love is a simply stunning shade of red that you may not want to try anything else until next season. If you’re into something more natural, Bobbi Brown has two nude shades as part of their Limited Edition Sandy Nude Collection.
