How to Bounce Back from the Holidays

How to Bounce Back from the Holidays, loren ridinger, holidays, bounce back

Is anyone else feeling it? That after-holiday burn,.It’s suddenly tough to wake up in the morning (when you were hitting the early wake-ups like a champ before the holidays), you’re struggling to stay focused at work, and you’re even having a hard time getting back on the healthy eating train. The holidays seemed to stretch over a pretty extensive amount of time this year. It’s tough to make that comeback, I know. But, here’s the thing: it’s a new year—2018 baby! And, it’s time to make this your year. But to do that, you have to get your motivation going. So, what do you say? Can we do this together? Keep reading for my ideas on how to bounce back from the holidays.

When your BFF is always happy to see you and makes you laugh all day!

Stop beating yourself up. OK, you’ve been sleeping in a little too often and you haven’t quite found your healthy eating groove, but you will. We’re all allowed a little time of the strict train – and you’re just really enjoying this round. That’s 100% OK, but now it’s time to realign. Stand tall, have confidence and don’t worry about what happened yesterday, today is a new day.

Remind yourself of your routine and get back to it. Prior to the holidays were you hitting the gym every morning before work and had you made healthy living a major part of your day to day? OK, it’s time to get back there. And, if you didn’t have a routine, it’s time to get one. Think about all the things that make you feel great: going to bed early, waking up early, exercise, healthy meals, yoga, meditating etc….find your groove again.

Hydrate. Hydrate. Hydrate. That may sound a little odd, but it’s not. It’s probably the best thing for you. After weeks of holiday parties imbibing, eating salty prepared foods, not enough exercise and definitely not the right amount of sleep…your body needs water, and lots of it. Get all that booze, salt and puffiness out of your system with a good flush. Add some lemon to your morning water and you’ll really up the detoxifying qualities.

Get to bed. Going to bed nice and early so that you can ensure you’re getting a full 7 or 8 hours is the name of the game. Try to turn off your smart phone, turn off the television and head to bed with a plan of getting up on the early side too. A good night sleep can make all the difference in the world, especially when you’re working on getting back into a routine – it will give you all the energy you need.

Are you ready to take 2018 to task and make this your year? Let’s start by putting the holidays behind us and bounce back to our routines. Are you with me?
