Glowing Skin Is Always In: How to Keep Your Skin Hydrated All Day

During the winter months when I’m not in Miami, my skin can feel dry and dull with the cold, harsh weather and alternating indoor heat. I recently discovered a few game-changing skincare secrets that I can’t wait to share with you. Here’s how to achieve happy, hydrated and glowing skin this season.

Glowing Skin Is Always In: How to Keep Your Skin Hydrated All Day

1. Exfoliate Your Face Regularly.

Incorporate a high-quality exfoliant into your routine a few times per week, like the Lumière de Vie® Volcanic Exfoliating Mask which is perfect for buffing away dead skin cells to unearth your skin’s natural radiance. Exfoliating also helps your serums and creams absorb (and thus work) better. Don’t make exfoliation part of your daily skincare regimen, mainly because your skin is likely to be more sensitive in the winter. Keep exfoliation to 1-3 times per week depending on your level of sensitivity. Start once per week and see how your skin reacts.

2. Refresh Your Skin as Needed.

Whenever your skin starts to feel tight, or you could use a mid-day pick-me-up, spritz a generous amount of hydrating skin mist all over your face and neck for an added boost of minerals and moisture. I like to keep a bottle of Rosé Refresher in my day-to-day bag, so I’m never without my essentials.

3. Layer Your Skincare in the Correct Order

There is a method to the madness that comes into play when skincare product application is concerned. Apply your humectants (products like hyaluronic acid that penetrate your deeper skin layers) first, and then occlusives (like mineral oil) that seal everything together. If your moisturizer isn’t providing enough hydration throughout the day, review the ingredients, and consider adding an occlusive cream or oil on top of your humectant moisturizer or serum.

4. Review and Revise Your Skin Habits Based on the Time of Year

Long, hot showers feel incredible after a blistering cold day, but they draw out so much moisture from your skin and can worsen any existing skin issues you may have like eczema. Depending on where you love, you probably also have the heat cranked up inside your house, so investing in a humidifier is a relatively inexpensive way to ensure your skin stays balanced and hydrated.
