3 Steps to Eradicating Insecurity Driven by Perfectionism

Perfectionism drives people to have high standards for everything they do, which can result in feeling like you’re never good enough or comparing yourself to others. Perfectionism can lead to insecurities and constant disappointment in one’s self.

3 Steps to Eradicating Insecurity Driven by Perfectionism

#1. Dig deep.

What is the cause of your perfectionism? Is it the desire to be the best at everything you do, or does it arise from feeling like you’re not good enough? When you identify the reason why you always strive for perfection, you can start understanding and managing your emotions more efficiently.

#2. Put things in perspective.

No one is perfect at everything. The drive to be perfect at everything builds unnecessary pressure on yourself. What are you best at? Focus on your strengths.

#3. Love yourself regardlessly.

Perfectionists often display conditional self-esteem, which means they love themselves when they are on top of their game, but not when things aren’t going to plan. Focus on the inner qualities that make you so lovable; your beautiful soul, loyalty, and ethical values. Once you learn to love yourself for who you are, you will attain happiness and self-love regardless of your achievements and pay grade.
