Have you ever noticed that body language truly says a lot about people – like you can almost tell what they’re thinking before he or she even verbalizes it? It’s funny how that works, body language gives off a vibe that’s often even more powerful than a conversation. You know when someone is open and ready to talk with you and you also know when it’s not a good time. Typically, it’s easy to see when someone doesn’t really like what you have to say and the same goes for a positive reaction. People don’t even have to speak and you know. So how do you ensure that you’re giving off the vibe you want to? Here’s a look at 10 things your body language says about you.

Your toes are facing and you stand close. This one is a tell-tale sign that you really like someone. So before you snuggle up this way, be sure you truly want that vibe out there.

You add space between you or turn away. This is easily construed as a turn off or as though you don’t like someone. When you put space between you, you’re uncomfortable and want some room to breathe.

You start to slouch. That’s an immediate sign that you’re overwhelmed, stressed or feeling completed defeated.

You have a hard time making eye contact. This usually means you’re not speaking the full truth or being completely honest in the situation. This one is easy to read, so be careful and cognizant here.

When you do make eye contact. You’re confident, honest and sincere.

Playing with your hair or running your fingers through your hair. This one is a sign of flirtation, so make sure you have the right time, place and person!

Crossing your arms. This is a sign of defensiveness, sometimes boredom or that you have the feelings of being in trouble. Try your best to avoid this one in the workplace as you want to seem open and ready for opportunity rather than closed off.

Smiling. This is one of the best body language signs around. It means your happy, excited and ready for anything.

Standing up tall, with great posture. This means you’re confident, strong and ready – a must for the workplace.

Flailing Your Arms Around. This fidgety body language can be easily construed as stress, nervousness or anxiousness. So, try to keep your arms by your side, still and calm to project a confident you.
