1. Listen

What is the key message this person is telling you? Give yourself time to look inwards and reflect on their words; do they have a valid point? I find that in times of disagreement we don’t listen to understand, we hear to respond. Take the time to listen to what the individual is telling you. Sometimes it takes someone from the outside looking in to reveal traits about you that you may not have noticed.

You want to show that you can accept critiques without losing your head. If you don’t agree with the assessment you received or would like to discuss the issue further, calmly approach the person to bridge the gap.

4. Take responsibility.
