Social Media Optimization (SMO) is the marketing buzzword of the decade due to its ability to help brands maximize their reach online. SMO is all about strategically creating and evolving your social media profiles to engage your target audience via lead generation, higher visibility, and strengthening your brand tone to better connect with your target consumers.

5 Social Media Optimization Hacks to Adopt Now
1. Optimize your social media strategy.

Every brand needs a solid social media strategy complete with clearly outlined intentions. Identify your objectives, tailor all of your content to tie in with these goals, and focus on networks that bring your brand the most value.

2. Implement keywords into your social media pages.

Search Engine Optimization is all about keywords. Research the phrases, hashtags, themes, and words your target market are searching for online. Your social media pages and posts should all include the keywords you identify to make you more searchable by your target audience. What hashtags are your competitors and ideal customer using? Use these hashtags to make your content more visible to your target market.

3. Create epic content.

Your content should align with your brand story, utilize engaging titles and post with images that command attention.

4. Optimize your posting schedule.

There's a lot of conflicting information out there about what time is best to post. I used to post at 6 AM to catch the early morning Instagrammers most days but recently discovered 10 AM draws more post engagement. Use Instagram Insights and the analytics features on other social media pages to identify when your followers are most active.
Recent studies suggest posting only once per day on Instagram and Facebook give the best post engagement results. Twitter recommends six posts per day.

5. Track your analytics.

Analytics can help you decipher the content your followers engage with the most, as well as when they are most active. All brands need to track analytics so that you can keep up with the fast-paced changes in your follower behavior.
