Salma Hayek Raised $400,000 for Earthquake Relief

September 24th, 2017

After the recent natural devastation in Mexico and Puerto Rico, stories like this one really help to aim our focus on the positive. Actress and philanthropist, Salma Hayek recently raised $400,000 in earthquake relief for Mexico. Wow, incredible. It warms my heart to hear stories like this. She created a CrowdRise page to support Unicef’s relief efforts donating $100,000 of her own money.

Actress Salma Hayek attends the ‘Carol’ Premiere during the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival on May 17, 2015 in Cannes, France.

According to the actress, “I have lived through the aftermath of a disaster of this magnitude, and it’s horrific,” she says in a video supporting the campaign. “I am starting a CrowdRise to try to raise money to help the families that are going through this nightmare right now in Mexico. I implore to your hearts, to the goodness of your hearts, to your compassion, to help.”
Check out the video below and be sure to donate to her CrowdRise page here.

Other celebrities have reached out to help raise funds for Mexico and Puerto Rico, including my friend JLo who is urging her followers to donate to the efforts made by Beatriz Rosselló at She still hasn’t heard from her family down in Puerto Rico and is headed to New York to join her close family right now. My heart and plenty of prayers go out to my friend.

Hopefully, with enough donations we can help raise money for Puerto Rico in the same way Salma did for Mexico. The people of these countries need our help. We don’t know when disaster will strike so it’s times like these where we need to unite and give a hand to our brothers in need. Please donate.
