Nix the Apps: Finding Dates the Old Fashioned Way

We live in a time where we're meeting people through the internet is the new norm. Dating apps have changed the game and now couples are now finding each other through new mediums that weren't there before. Here's the thing: dating apps don't always work because they're almost like shopping around for a person. When you open an app, you're not really doing so consciously, it's almost like your bored and just looking around to do something. This can become problematic because we end up meeting dates who are equally as bored as we are, leading to encounters with dates we aren't wanting to attract. The solution: try to meet someone the old fashioned way! If apps aren't working for you, then it's time to try to get your butt out there and meet potential dates in the real world. Not sure where to start? Read on.

Nix the Apps: Finding Dates the Old Fashioned Way

Staying Open- In order to meet a date in the real world, you're going to have to change the way you approach dating. When you go out with friends, don't just head straight to the bar and order a drink. Instead, read the room. Take it all in and see who's around. Make eye contact and smile. I know it's easier said than done but it's good to practice.

Ask Around- Have you ever thought about asking your group of friends if they have anyone around as a possible date? Ask around! Tell whomever you come across that you're single and looking to date. Be open to all and any opportunities. You never know what might come up!

Make an Approach- Okay, I get it. It's scary to consider approaching a potential date. You're putting yourself in a vulnerable situation. But, think about how flattering it is when you get complimented, or how many great conversations you've had with strangers. Sometimes, it's not about necessarily flirting, but just talking to someone you think is attractive. Try it out when you're alone or out with friends. What feels safest for you? Start there and see where you can go.
