Transitioning To Your Winter Skincare Routine

As the Winter Solstice approaches, it is time to shift your skincare routine. If there is one thing that’s absolutely crucial for your winter skincare routine, it’s moisture.  The cold weather dries out the natural oils in your skin so it is important to rehydrate daily. Your skin is the biggest line of defense against germs. If your skin is cracked and broken, it’s going to leave you vulnerable. Here is how I adjust my skincare routine:

Making sure you cleanse your skin daily is a vital part of skincare. Washing your face removes dirt, oil, and other unwanted debris. During the day, your skin builds up bacteria, pollutants, viruses, dirt, and dead skin. If you go without washing your face, it can lead to blocked pores and blemishes. I use Lumière de Vie’s Facial Cleanser. It helps to moisturize while cleansing, refreshing and invigorating the skin. The appearance of rough, dry skin is visibly diminished, creating skin that is softer and smoother.

Exfoliating in the winter helps replenish your skin. In order for your dehydrated skin to breathe and improve the effectiveness of moisturizers, you need to buff away these dead cells so new cells can come in healthier and without obstruction. I am obsessed with the new Lumiere de Vie Hommes Exfoliating Face Scrub. It makes me feel refreshed and leaves my skin feeling smooth. Exfoliate your skin 2-3 times a week!

Using a toner rebalances your skin’s pH in order to absorb all your other skincare products in your routine. Bringing your skin back to balance promotes healthy skin hydration, effectively reducing the appearance of rough, dry skin for a softer, smoother complexion. Which brings us to the another vital part of your winter skincare routine…

Moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize! Due to weather conditions, hot showers, and hot air conditioning, it is now a great time to use more intensive hydrating treatments and thicker moisturizers. This will create a barrier and protect our skin. An ingredient I have been obsessed with is Astaxanthin. Lumiere De Vie recently released two products: the Renewal Gelée and the Renewal Hand & Body Crème. Both of them use lipids and algae to help improve hydration and renew the skin’s texture. I use the Gelée after my toner, allowing it to dry before I apply my serums. For days where I need an extra oomph, I put on Lumière de Vie’s Moisture Intense Facial Masque. The aloe and hyaluronic acid makes me feel hydrated and revitalized.

5 Winter Skincare Tips:

  1. Do not use hot water to wash your face or body, it will dry your skin out.
  2. Stay away from clay masks, they can also dry out your skin.
  3. Don’t forget to use SPF daily.
  4. Switch to liquid/cream makeup. The more liquid in your makeup routine the better.
  5. Use Lumiere De Vie’s After Sun Glow & Renew to stay bronze during the winter.
