Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world. Millions of people, right now, are letting their fears prevent them from chasing their goals. Don’t be one of these people. It’s time to give fear the finger and go after the life of your dreams.
1. Face Your Phobias
If you’ve seen me speak on stage, you’ve likely heard my story about the dog. I was terrified to pass this dog throughout my childhood years. When I found the courage to walk past the dog one day, I discovered it had no teeth! All that worry over nothing! Whatever you’re scared of doing, it’s time to summon your inner courage and be fearless!
2. Create a Strategy for Success
Identify your fear. Write a list of everything that scares you and why. For example, if your dream is to start your own business, what specifically are you scared of? The fear of failing, or concerns about quitting a stable income to set up alone? Once you identify your fear, you can create a strategy to overcome your anxiety. Create a solid plan to achieve the life of your dreams. If you’re launching a business startup, you’ll need a business plan as much for you to understand your business model, as well as create a compelling pitch for potential investors. Include a detailed SWOT analysis to identify weaknesses and threats. The more knowledgable and prepared you are, the less fear you’ll feel. Preparation is key.
3. Practice Makes Perfect
One of the biggest causes of anxiety and fear is feeling unprepared. The more you practice what scares you, the more power you gain. A common phobia is public speaking. The idea of talking to a vast audience used to terrify me – you wouldn’t know that when you see me stride onto the stage now to speak to crowds of 20,000+ entrepreneurs. Why? Because I forced myself to get up there and do it. I practiced. I go up on stage, knowing exactly what I’m talking about and why.
