Lets face it – social media is intimidating no matter who you are and can sometimes start to feel like a popularity contest that you just don’t know how to win. 5 Ways to Get Ahead on Social Media

  1. Use multimedia. People are visual creatures by nature and pictures, infographics and quote graphics are some of the most shareable content out there. Plus, vine to Instagram to YouTube, videos give direct insight into your world and offer nice variety in addition to photos.
  2. Promote. Pay the couple extra dollars to promote your posts or buy advertising space! The investment is worth it.
  3. Choose your networks wisely. Every single social network out there might not be the most advantageous. Think carefully about how often you can update/find content for/have an audience and go from there.
  4. Respond and RT. Share your favorite articles, RT interesting tweets and respond to other’s content or questions. This keeps your timeline fresh and shows you’re willing to engage, not only self-promote.
  5. Keep it positive. We’ve all turned to social media when angry or upset but take a few deep breaths and see if it’s warranted. Positivity is always your best bet! But if you do decide to go on a rant, keep it clean and come from a place of finding a resolution, not just tearing down the other person/business.
