Red lips at Monique Lhuillier Fall 2012
Have you been wanting to try a red lip? Well this is how rock a red lip, as seen at the Monique Lhuiller Fall 2012 show during New York Fashion Week! It's not as difficult to pull off as you might think - a clean, neutral face and a sleek side part let your lips stand out exactly how a red lip should. This is a rich, bold red with blue undertones from MAC however you can get the look with our new Motives by La La Mineral Lipstick in Red Carpet ($15.75). Even though this red lip look is for fall, you don't have to wait to give this beauty trend a try!
Beauty Trend: Cat Eyes at New York Fashion Week
The latest beauty trend at New York Fashion Week obsession is the cat eye. Cat eyes are a versatile look because you wear retro winged liner, as seen at BCBG or dramatic, like at Jason Wu. Although cat eyes have been around the beauty block, the colorful green cat eye from the Jason Wu runway is definitely different with a bit of edge, which I love! If you're looking to switch up your standard smoky eye this weekend, try this green cat eye beauty trend - just because it's New York Fashion Week Fall 2012 doesn't mean you can't try the beauty trends now!
Happi Magazine also known as the 'beauty industry bible' recently quoted me on fall's beauty trends. See my quote below from Happi Magazine August issue. Feel free to ask me beauty advice via Twitter @lorenridinger or drop me a comment below.
Loren Ridinger, senior vice president of Market America, Greensboro, NC, contends that this season, select color combinations rules the roost. “On the runways, it’s about contrast; pairing neutrals with bolds. On one hand, bold smoky eyes are complemented with nude or coral lips, accentuating the eyes. On the other hand, soft, healthy natural skin paired with bright lips in orange or wine/berry colors are truly making a lasting impression. Orange was big this summer, and is carrying over into fall and winter – but it’s more of a burnt orange, instead of bright orange,” she said.
