Last night, the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards were announced and this year's nominees will have some tough competition. Adele, nominated for three awards including Video of the Year award for "Rolling Deep", Kanye West also nominated for three awards including best hip hop video for "All the Lights" featuring Rihanna and Kid Cudi. Fashion's Night Out was entertaining, hectic and exciting! The day started early at 6:30 PM when Sammi Giancola from MTV's  Jersey Shore (she really is a sweetheart) and her manager Hillary stopped by my apartment in Chelsea for a pre-glam get together.  We then headed off to the Shop Addicts event at Touch Lounge around 7:30 with the girls for a night of fun!  I was so thrilled to see all the fans that came to see me particularly two very young ladies who drove a long way just to meet me.  The event was filled with press, emerging designers and of course a room filled with beauty experts and a group of makeup lovers waiting to get their makeovers done by our Motives Cosmetics professional makeup team led by Aileen Quintana. 

I just finished a book by Kelly Cutrone, of The Hills and The City fame and founder of fashion publicity house People’s Revolution, titled If you have to cry, go outside and other things your mother never told you. I really enjoyed it. Cutrone’s story and her candidness are both inspiring and refreshing. It’s a really great book for anyone unhappy or on-the-fence with their career. I was actually recommended the book by someone who read it and then left her job to pursue her passion. So if you need a little career inspiration, pick up Cutrone’s book.
