Big Wins at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards

Were you watching the Golden Globe Awards last night? This year’s presentation did not disappoint. With so many deserving winners, several favorites stood out. La La Land, The Crown, and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, were some of the big honorees. But many others stood out as well. Here’s a bit of a recap of last night’s big wins. Big Wins at the 2017 Golden Globe Awards

Before we get to the full recap, let’s talk about the major highlight of the night: When Meryl Streep received a Lifetime Achievement Award. Between the incredible into to Streep’s achievements and career by Viola Davis to the beautiful montage of her work over the years – no one outshined the moment like Streep herself when she gave an impassioned acceptance speech. No matter if you agree with Streep’s political viewpoints or not, she left viewers with one truth that resonates with all of us, “Disrespect invites disrespect, violence incites violence.” And, isn’t that the truth?

In addition to Meryl’s incredible Lifetime Achievement, there were so many other amazing awards; here are a few highlights. Let’s see if any of your favorites made the cut:

Best picture, comedy or musical: La La Land

Actress, drama: Isabelle Huppert, Elle

Actor, drama: Casey Affleck, Manchester by the Sea

All in all an incredible night! We laughed, we cried and we went down memory lane recognizing some of the best like Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher.
