- Be Impeccable with your Word: Say only what you mean, and do not use the word against yourself or others (gossip!).
- Don’t Take Anything Personally: Once you realize that what people say about you is their projection of their reality, you will no longer be the victim of needless suffering.
- Don’t Make Assumptions: Communicate with others as clearly as possible to avoid drama, misunderstanding, and suffering.
- Always Do Your Best: Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.
I found these principles to be common sense, yet very empowering. Once you read the book, you’re going to want to adapt Ruiz’s philosophy right away, but you’ll no doubt hit some challenges. Thankfully, Ruiz addresses each of these challenges you may face. At first, when adopting these agreements, you may feel a bit uncomfortable. But once you get a hang of it, you’ll see that life is more enjoyable and filled with more happiness and less suffering.
I found that I already practiced some of the agreements, but the book made me understand how important my actions and thoughts are to my happiness and success. I hope this book of wisdom can help you as well.

Loren

Thank you for a great summary of a great book. I read it about 5 years ago and have revisited it frequently. Your message was a good reminder to look at it again. This book has such a strong message of integrity and non-judgement. It reminds me of a favoriite saying of a good friend and author Brian Klemmer "it's not that it is Right, Wrong, Good, or Bad... It just IS" Now i am reading a new book called "Accomplish the Impossible" by Steffan Soule. His first work and so far very promising!
