I just finished a book by Kelly Cutrone, of The Hills and The City fame and founder of fashion publicity house People’s Revolution, titled If you have to cry, go outside and other things your mother never told you. I really enjoyed it. Cutrone’s story and her candidness are both inspiring and refreshing. It’s a really great book for anyone unhappy or on-the-fence with their career. I was actually recommended the book by someone who read it and then left her job to pursue her passion. So if you need a little career inspiration, pick up Cutrone’s book.

Perhaps you’re a fan of the fashion publicity powerhouse from watching her on reality TV? I bet you didn’t know she’s from a small town, was a tarot card reader on Venice beach, and takes her employees shopping for bed linens when they get promoted. Her life account is raw, hilarious, and shocking all at the same time—but all the truth. And although she uses her life’s story to teach others, the book is a guide to succeeding in work and in life. The book is filled with blunt advice (from how to hire a birth coach and being a single mom to how to recover from a drug addiction) from a women who doesn’t mind being called a bitch and doesn’t believe being spiritual necessarily means you have to be nice.

Cutron gives tough-love advice and tells her story to empower and inspire the next generation of professionals or just those looking to reinvent themselves.

Pick up a copy here and enjoy! Let me know how you liked it.
