Before becoming a blogger, you worked in finance and then pursued a career in reporting in New York City.

What encouraged your shift from reporter to full time blogger? I left finance to pursue reporting but after working behind the scenes in news for three years, I found myself kind of overwhelmed and a little depressed. I'm naturally a happy person, so to go to work, and hear nothing but talk of rapes, and murders, after a while, it was more than I could handle. I started my blog while still working in the news, and I noticed how much I looked forward to blogging. I offered life advice as well as beauty recommendations and reviews. I knew I found my calling when I got emails from girls telling me posts I had written about not comparing yourself or about always taking care of yourself, had changed their lives. That's when I knew this might be my something!

LW: You have had so many roles from your stint on How I Met Your Mother to Glee and now American Pie. What has the amazing journey meant for you?

CA: It has confirmed my belief that if you find what you love and work diligently at it, the right jobs and people will continue to show up in your life.

Mindy Grossman Talks Women And Shopping

As you might be aware I recently launched my new 'Yours by Loren' jewelry collection exclusively for HSN with HSN's CEO Mindy Grossman over the past weekend at our 19th annual Market America International Convention. I recently came across this interview on Forbes.com on Mindy and how she has made the list of "Forbes Top 100 Most Powerful Business Women", how she sees today's women and is helping other women succeed. 

As CEO of HSN, formerly known as the Home Shopping Network, Grossman is one of just 24 women running America's 1000 largest corporations - a fact she calls "disturbing." The 33-year retail veteran has trekked a long path - an acquired a lot of shoes - to get to this point. After stints at Tommy Hilfiger and Polo Ralph Lauren, Grossman spent seven years at Nike leading its $4 billion apparel business and putting women at the forefront, developing Nike's global women's business and as co-chair of its Women's Leadership Council.

The Hollywood Reporter: Katie, what do you envision for the talk show?

Katie Couric: Well, the ink is barely dry. We’ve started to talk about it in broad terms, and I think we’d like the show to be topical and to really capture the zeitgeist of what people are talking about. It will be serious at times, obviously informative and fun. Really, a mixture of things we hope people will be interested in. It’s not going to be a news show, but we’ll be talking about the news and issues that I think people care about, whether it’s bullying or the effect technology has on our kids. It might be a profile of a navy seal after Osama Bin Laden has been killed; it might talk about women in the military and some of the stresses they experience in reentry with their families.

Rent The Runway's Jennifer Hyman & Jenny Fleiss

Jennifer Hyman and Jenny Fleiss were buds at Harvard Business School before launching their site, Rent the Runway. "Actually, we met on our very first day of class, "laughs Fleiss, who, along with Hyman, received a $15 million investment from Keliner Perkins in March of this year. The site the very first to allow customers to rent top-notch designer styles for approximately 10 percent of their retail price-- has found footing with a broad audience of women seeking luxury styles for formal occasions, or just fancy nights on the town. Now entering its second year in business, we caught up with Hyman and Fleiss to hear how the site's evolved since it's launch, and what advice they would offer to your girls.

Selena Rezvani, Women Are Each Other's Best Resources

Within the past decade, there has been a surge of female leaders within the corporate world. Although this increase has demonstrated the strides that women are making in their respected fields, the ratio of women receiving equal pay to men; continues to remain disproportionate.

Selena Rezvani, author of The Next Generation of Women Leaders, has committed her life to empowering women in understanding their professional worth. She has a regular column in The Washington Post and has been featured on ABC and NBC programming as well as Forbes and The Wall Street Journal.    Selena, a woman with an MBA and exceptional problem solving skills did not feel powerful in her position.  As she began to conduct research for her book, she became fascinated with women who were powerful in a positive way who also wanted to assist other women in owning their own power. What started off, as a research project has now become a platform to encourage women to take charge over their careers, by becoming more assertive, utilizing negotiation tactics without fear and demand respect for the measurable outcomes that they produce.
